about me, ben schnake

“Know thyself.” – Socrates

Hi, I'm Ben - owner, founder, and your trainer at Schnake Fitness.

You have to be who you are in this world. No matter what. I’ve been drawn to the gym ever since I was a young kid. It was always my refuge - somewhere I could escape to and grow. For the past 20 plus years, health and fitness have influenced my life and consequently the lives of those around me more than anything else. This never changed.

My journey in fitness started with an internship with the Strength and Conditioning department as a student at the University of Wyoming. As a strength coach, I was involved with training nearly every varsity sport and discipline, from our injured athletes to the soon-to-be professional football players.

After school, I moved down to Denver where I started a job personal training at 24 Hour Fitness and played in the Rugby Super League for the Denver Barbarians. At the time this was the highest level of competitive rugby in the United States. After three years and many injuries, I decided it was time to hang up the boots. Rugby is a rough sport!

Since then I have trained more than 20,000 sessions with clients of all ages, abilities, and unique injuries, and received the following certifications. After 10 years in the health and fitness field, my passion, experiences, and knowledge continue to grow. I strive to learn a little more each day with every new person I meet and train.

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association

  • Corrective Exercise Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine

  • Precision Nutrition Level 1 Nutrition Specialist

I strongly believe that you attract what you are, what you think, and what your actions represent. In accordance with this, I believe that the greatest truths are the ones that can be simplified the most. My training philosophy is represented in this statement: If you want to change your life, your health, your fitness, or anything else, you need to change your attitude, your beliefs about yourself, and your environment. The beauty of it all is that by changing your mindset and health you, in turn, make the world a better place.

I would love to be part of that catalyst for change in your life. Shoot me a message and let’s talk about your goals!
